A durable and convenient lawn sprinkler that 'travels' across your lawn

Unlike conventional lawn sprinklers that require constant relocation, the Rain Train moves on its own, saving time and improving water conservation. To be able to water up to 13,500 square feet (over 1,200 square metres) of established lawn without having to move the sprinkler is the major advantage over conventional lawn sprinklers.

The Rain Train's engineering is deceptively simple. First, up to 200 feet of hose is laid out across the lawn in your desired pattern with the end connected to the back of the unit. The tractor's front wheel straddles the hose allowing it to follow the path while water pressure powers its cleated back wheels, moving it forward until it reaches a shut off switch at the end of the line. In the course of its travels, the Rain Train delivers a deep, even watering over the entire area of coverage. The Rain Train is manufactured from high quality, rust-resistant cast iron and has a durable brass hose connection with a powder-coated finish for protection.

This unique product isn't a novelty - it's the real deal. This die-cast little yellow tractor with a whirling sprinkler on top is American made and has a two-speed gearbox that's ready to work all day.

Assembling the Spray Arm

Tighten the black tee into the top of the motor. Insert the spray arms as far as they will go and tighten the arm retainer nuts until they feel snug when twisted

Position the arms correctly

The arms must be positioned correctly in order for the sprinkler to move in the right direction.

Adjust the angle of the arms

The water can be thrown from 15-55 feet. Point the arms slightly down (1) for covering a 15ft path. For maximum 55ft coverage, the arms should be set to approximately 30º (2). In the event of high wind speeds, position the arms horizontally (3) Don't point the arms too far downward or they will get caught on the sprinkler (4)

Hose Layout

Avoid creating sharp turns with your hose. Create a 3 foot loop with the end of your hose to prevent kinking. Can be used with 13mm, 14mm and 19mm hose pipes.

Shut-off ramp and connection to hose

The automatic shut off ramp allows the sprinkler to be set to turn off at any point along the hose. The sprinkler is connected by placing the front wheels over the hose with the larger back wheels straddling it.

Starting the Sprinkler and setting the speed

Pull out the stopper located on the underside of the sprinkler between the back wheels and turn on the tap.  On the speed selector knob, move to high for a light watering. If set too low, the sprinkler will travel slower. Neutral setting keeps the sprinkler non-moving in one place.

Sprinkler Maintenance

Keep the filter washer at the hose coupling clean. If the water flow is sluggish through the spray arms, clean out the spray arms. Make sure the sprinkler is not dropped. Stand the sprinkler on its back end and tilt against a wall for 5 minutes to drain out the water.

NB. To make a quick click connection to this sprinkler, make use of an Accessory Adaptor with 3/4" BSP Male Thread. Claw-Lock style connectors are also available if desired.

Please note: Requires a minimum operating water pressure of 2.8 Bar (40psi)
