HydroSure have developed an in-line pressure compensating stream dripper with spike designed for ultimate ease when installing into an irrigation system. The pressure compensating diaphragm that ensures each plant gets the same amount of water regardless of fluctuating water pressures, location or elevation - ideal for gardens with sloped layouts or when irrigating raised beds/planters or hanging baskets.

Solutions that Work

For Top Tips on how to build a Stream Dripper Irrigation System tailored to your garden, read our Buyers Guide.

Irrigation System

In-line stream drippers can be directly installed directly into 4mm micro-pipe in a chain layout alongside other in-line drippers. Be sure to use an end of line dripper at the end of the string to prevent any open ends. Install from the main supply pipe by feeding 4mm micro pipe (up to 4 metres long) from a reducing tee or attach micro-pipe to a 4mm barbed tap connector to supply directly from the tap.

Garden Watering System

Produces a larger wetting pattern, up to 40cm in diameter, and outputs higher volumes of water than micro-drippers yet still ensures uniform distribution watering plants closer to the root zone than micro-sprays and sprinklers – the perfect solution for accurate irrigation and more diverse watering requirements.

Ergonomically Shaped Spike

For complete stability, the built-in spike is constructed using an X-shaped design to provide maximum surface area and ultimate anchorage when in the ground. This prevents the stream dripper from moving in windy conditions ensuring more targeted and accurate delivery of water directly to the root zone.

Water-Saving Irrigation System

Create a garden watering irrigation system that encourages plants to thrive and allows you to conserve water at the same time. Stream drippers can help you save water at home and protect the earth’s most precious resources by watering your garden using a system that consumes up to 90% less water than using a hosepipe.

UV Protection

Manufactured from weather resilient high-grade poly-propylene with UV Additives resistant to high temperatures and most commonly used agricultural chemicals. Expertly constructed for long life and protection against deterioration even when subject to harsh climates and sunlight. Cheaper plastics will begin to deteriorate after time but you can be certain HydroSure stream drippers are built to last.

Pressure Compensation

Pressure compensating stream drippers self compensate at bar pressures between 1.5 – 3 bar. To ensure your system works at an optimal level, you will still need to use a pressure reducer at the start of your system.

Stream Drippers Frequently Asked Questions

  • How many Stream Drippers do I need to water my garden?

Stream drippers produce a wetting pattern of up to 80cm in diameter. It is advisable to space the drippers apart so the wetting pattern from one dripper meets the location of where another is in situ.
Example: A Stream Dripper producing a wetting pattern of 80cm should be spaced 40cm apart if installed in rows and lengthways in a linear pipe formation. This ensures wetting patterns overlap and eliminates the risk of dry spots/underwatering.
  • Some of my Stream Drippers are not working!

    Common Problems

    • Stream Drippers not emitting: Check the flow rate from the tap using our Water Pressure and Flow Rate Guide. A flow rate of 540 LPH and a Stream Dripper output of 40 LPH means up to 13 emitters can be run in a single zone. (Flow Rate Divided by Emitter Output).
    • Dry spots: Emitters can become clogged with insects or dirt. Regularly flushing the pipe network, dismantling the drippers and cleaning them under running water prevents blockages.
    • Structural Damage: Digging in the garden can puncture the supply pipe affecting emitter performance. Locate leaks or water pooling and fix the pipe by cutting out the damaged section using Pipe Cutters and re-connect using a Joiner.
    • Pressure Loss: Make sure any open end of the pipe is plugged using an End Cap. This maintains water pressure at the correct level for emitters to function.
  • My Stream Drippers keep clogging and blocking!

Use an Irrigation Filter at the start of your system to prevent naturally occurring sediment from clogging dripper outlets.

  • Can I install Stream Drippers into a Hose Pipe?

No, hose pipe is manufactured from flexible PVC that when punctured to insert a Stream Dripper frays the surface and does not create a watertight seal.

Instead, insert Stream Drippers into the wall of Irrigation Pipe. LDPE Pipe has a rigid wall that a Stream Dripper can lock into. Alternatively, use alongside Micro Pipe for installations up to 10 metres away from the main supply.

  • How do I hold irrigation pipe and Stream Drippers in position?

Properly uncoiling the irrigation pipe helps with installation. Make pipe easier to work with by weighing it down on either end with a brick and allow any bends to settle. The pipe can then be secured into place every metre and at either side of where a dripper is positioned using Pipe Stakes.

  • Mini Sprinklers vs Drip Line

Both Drippers and Drip Line regulate water flow based on the plant’s water consumption requirements. Whilst Drip Line is easier to set up, Stream Drippers enable flexible placement in flower beds, planters, hanging baskets and pots rather than being confined to the pre-set spacings of Drip Line.

  • Will a Stream Drip System over winter or does it need to be removed?

HydroSure Stream Drippers are manufactured from high-quality polypropylene and silicone to ensure longer-lasting durability. For this reason, Drippers can remain in position over the winter months.

Top Tip: Avoid the impact of thawing and freezing by removing the End Caps or using a Valve in place of an end piece. Run water through the system for around 2 minutes to flush out any debris.

  • My Stream Drippers won’t stay in the irrigation tubing and keep popping out!

Stream Drippers work best at pressures around 1.5 to 3 Bar. The water output from most garden taps usually exceeds this pressure causing dripper displacement from Micro Tubing or LDPE Pipe. Use a Pressure Reducer at the start of your system to regulate pressure to the correct level for drippers to function.
